The following support groups are open to new members at all times.
Men’s Cancer Club
A group just for men whose lives have been affected by cancer, whether in themselves or a loved one. Group meets the second Thursday of every month 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at United General Hospital. Call (360) 856-7245 for more information.
Alzheimer’s Support Group
Group leaders from the Skagit Adult Day Care hold an open support group for caregivers, family members and those who have been affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Group meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at United General Hospital. The group will not meet in November or December due to the holidays. Call (360) 856-7245 for more information.
Look Good Feel Better
Free classes for women cancer patients to help combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Representatives from the American Cancer Society and licensed cosmetologists assist cancer patients with skin care, make-up application, wigs, and headwear. This is a quarterly class offered at United General Hospital. For dates and registration please call (425) 322-1100.
Free Health Insurance Counseling
On Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, trained volunteers from the SHIBA program (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors) provide free individual counseling on Medicare and health insurance at United General Hospital. Appointment is required, please call (360) 856-7298.
