Everfi Alcohol Education: Safe and Smart – This self-paced online program addresses youth alcohol by covering personal goals, the impact of alcohol on your body, and how to handle peer pressure. The program is designed as a prevention course for all students but can be utilized as an alcohol alternative to suspension curriculum. ( 25-35 minutes per lesson / 2-3 hours to complete)
My Healthy Futures – Is an Alternative-to-Suspension curriculum geared for students who have been found using nicotine products, e-cigarettes, or any tobacco products and/or for any student who is interested in trying to reduce or quit nicotine use. Youth can complete the intervention during a free period, after school, or in an In School Suspension (ISS) program. (40-60 minutes to complete)
SPORT – This is a single-session program geared towards student athletes and designed to prevent alcohol and other drug use while promoting health and fitness among youth. (45 minutes to facilitate)
Our Healthy Futures – An Alternative-to-Suspension taught with just one student or in a group setting with lessons about Cannabis and Tobacco prevention. Provides facilitator and discussion guides, slides, and activity all for free! (2-hour and 4-hour versions available)
You and Me, Together Vape Free – This curriculum from Stanford Medicine includes middle and high school programs containing 6 lessons aimed at addressing key factors associated with youth e-cigarette use including changing adolescents’ attitudes and misperceptions; increasing their refusal skills; reducing stress and improving coping skills; and decreasing intentions and actual use of all e-cigarette products. (6 lessons – 50 minutes each)

Truth Initiative – The Truth Initiative provides a Quit Smoking and Vaping toolkit including a texting messaging service and an online quit community for older youth.
Smokefree Teen – This resource walks youth through building a quit plan while utilizing social media platforms, the quitSTART app, and their new SmokefreeTXT for teens. It includes helpful articles and information on how to cope with mental health challenges and withdrawal symptoms.
2Morrow – 2Morrow Health is a smartphone app in English and Spanish that helps youth learn new ways to deal with unhelpful thoughts, urges, and cravings caused by nicotine. Youth receive notifications and can track their progress along the way in order to move toward their goal of quitting. The program is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and provides a personalized, non-judgmental and private experience. Appropriate for youth 13+
Becoming an EX – This resource includes helpful articles, a free customizable quit plan, and a supportive EX community for those who want to quit smoking, vaping, and tobacco. Ideal for older teen and young adults due to the community blog post format.
This is Quitting – Text VAPEFREEWA to 88709. This is a text line for those who are ready to quit. This provides free coaching and motivational support for participants wanting to quit.
Washington State Quitline – Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669). Provides free over the phone counseling to help callers quit. When youth and Spanish speakers call they are directed to specific lines.
Substance Use Specific
- GAIN-SSS – Given to adolescent patients ages 10-17. 11 questions identify substance use disorder and other disordered behaviors in youth.
- CRAFT + N – Given to adolescent patients ages 12-17. 4-10 questions identify consequences related to substance use. Includes the PHQ-9 Modified for Teens screening tool for adolescent depression on the second page.
- S2-BI – Given to adolescent patients ages 12-17. 4-10 questions measure frequency of substance use (includes supplemental CRAFFT questions). Includes the PHQ-9 Modified for Teens screening tool for adolescent depression on the second page. Online screening available here.
Mental Health Specific
- PHQ-9 – Given to patients aged 12 or older to screen or diagnose depression, measure the severity of symptoms, and measure a patient’s response to treatment. 10 questions.
- GAD – Given to patients aged 12 – 17. A seven-question tool to screen for generalized anxiety in youth. Online screening is available here.
- Columbia Severity Screening Tool – Given to patients ages 12 or older to screen for suicidal ideation.
Cascadia Youth Mental Health – Helping school systems, communities, and youth-serving organizations transform discipline practices to promote youth behavioral health. Can be provided during the 24-25 school year at no cost to schools through regional YCCTPP funding.
