The interpretive trail at Pomona Grange will guide us in learning about the natural world on this slower paced walk. We will notice and experience the textures of the plants and world around us as we engage our sense of touch! This walk is perfect for people wanting to experience the mental health benefits of time outside and the time will include stretches, grounding exercises, and a walk of less than a mile with great company.
Monday, April 15th 10:30 am –12:00 pm at Padilla Bay Trail (Scent)
The beauty of the bay calls you in with fresh scents of seaweed and saltwater and the cries of gulls and other shore birds. Discover the scents of the natural world as we crest the Padilla Bay trail near Bayview. You’ll have the option to go at a pace that’s right for you – one group will walk 3 miles at a steady pace and another group will go at a gentle pace for 1-2 miles (challenge-by-choice). Whether you’ve been to Padilla Bay many times, or this will be your first outing, experience the trail in a new way with us!
Monday, April 22nd 10:30 am -12 pm at Stimpson Family Nature Reserve (Sound)
Take a moment and listen – what do you hear? Find peace in the quiet and experience the symphony of nature on this mild to moderate walk of approximately three miles. Stimpson Family Nature Reserve near Lake Whatcom is the perfect place to stretch your legs and perk up your ears. Seniors and other community members are welcome regardless of
We will meet at the trailhead of the walk for the community to gather to eat lunch together from 12:15 pm – 12:45 pm. Please bring your own lunch as food will not be provided.
Friday, May 3rd 11:30 am – 1 pm at Little Mountain Park (Air)
Feel the fresh air on your face as we walk along in good company! We will meander the trails up Little Mountain near Mount Vernon. We do not plan on making it to the top and the group will decide how far we go depending on interest and comfort. All fitness levels are welcome as we breathe together at rest and in motion.
th 11 am – 12:30 pm at Lions Park Trail (Earth)
Let’s not take for granted this beautiful earth we have. Come explore Lions Park with us. We will be doing some breathing activities, mindfulness meditation, and a walk. We will have two groups, one that walks 3-4 miles and one that walks 1-2 miles. All levels are welcome and are challenge-by-choice. Climb the ups and downs together.
nd 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm at Northern State Recreation Area (Fire)
The element of this walk is fire. We chose the Northern State Recreation Area because there is a tree burned from the inside out. Fire is something that can cause a lot damage and also renewal. We are thinking about fire in its essence, not actuality. During this walk we will do some breathing exercises, a writing exercise, and a walk in the forest. We plan on walking around 2-3 miles stopping to do the activities along the way.
Friday, May 31st 10:30 am – 12 pm at
Join us on the final day of May for an epic experience! What better place to take in the nourishing and healing powers of water than at Deception Pass. We will walk along the inlet to the bay side, look at the dunes, and decide as a group what fits the day for other activities. This walk will be 1-3 miles. For this walk you need a Discover Pass to park at the trailhead. If you need one you can go to your local library to check out a pass, the pass is limited to usage for one week so time your checkout accordingly if you want to join us for our hike on the 31st.
