Recently, this program [United Fitness Center] helped me recover from blocked arteries and CABG surgery and saved my life. I started as a member during covid when I mostly retired. I thought I was in decent shape and liked to hike, bike and fish. In September 2023 after a 3-month break from my exercise, I returned to the gym with a dull ache in my chest when I tried to exercise at my previous workout level. Dr. Volsky ordered a stress test and within days I was having CABG surgery. I recovered quite well and was back at the gym within a month to just walk on the treadmill at an easy pace.  I did cardiac rehab but was able to leave early to finish getting stronger at United Fitness Center.

I can rehabilitate at the Fitness Center and am feeling so much better than I did pre-surgery. I have gone on a few long hikes and recently added weightlifting back into my routine. Exercise seems like the only aspect of my life over which I have control. I am grateful for a place to feel accepted and supported.

[United Fitness Center’s] chief attribute is that everyone is welcome, accepted and supported. This attitude of acceptance starts with the staff – who consider everyone’s needs to be important. Their education and experience set them apart from any commercial gym.  Then the patrons themselves care about each other and support each other. Everyone works at their own speed and capacity. We are all happy when someone else does well. At [United Fitness Center] we are all in this together!
